Trinket Trading is another Ren Faire PH staple! Celebrate your newfound friendship through the joyous act of exchanging Trinkets! Trinkets can be so many things! From crafted items, charms, or just something that interests you that you think might interest other people too!
Even a pebble can be a trinket to trade because of its shape, or texture, or its type, even its meaning! Trinket trading is fun because its more about the meaning and intent a person would like to share with another! A simple gesture like that comes a long way.
You donโt necessarily have to trade for the sake of it! If you appreciate someone just because you like something about them, go ahead and give them one! Also, be kind to a fellow faire-goer without a trinket to trade as not everyone is well-versed with trinket trading after all, it is only the 2nd year of Ren Faire PH.
But, for Faire-goes who want to be identified as Trinket Traders (because we would want to receive something too, amirite?). RFPH will have a trinket trading booth near the entrance where you can get an identity badge! How does it work? Simply go to the booth, show your trinkets, and trade your trinket for a โTrinket Traders badgeโ Wear it where its most visible and trade away! This badge will help you spot other trinket traders you can trade with. Once you run out of trinkets, we request that you hide your badge. This is with the intent that we wouldn’t want to discourage any trinket traders who plucked their courage to come up to you to trade only to find out you have no more trinkets left (If that were me, I’d still give you a trinket out of awkwardness but would feel bad especially if I wanted to receive something as well, so being extra mindful of others goes a long way!ย
Please be reminded that Trinket Trading means no monetary value should be exchanged because the real worth of this trade is leaving people with a piece of you through the spirit of giving. Thus, let each trinket exchanged create a web of friendship that will long endure forever.
