Experience the fusion of Japanese martial arts and Renaissance fantasy as Sugawara Sogo Budo Philippines takes center stage at Ren Faire PH 2024!

A short history on Sugawara Sogo Budo Yushinkan Dojo: The Philippine branch was officially established on 1998 when Sugawara Tetsutaka Sensei appointed Eduard Lapuos Jr. as the head teacher in the Philippines. They’ve been studying and teaching the 600-year old Japanese martial art: Katori Shintō-ryū, which focuses on the use of traditional Japanese weapons.

They’ll be doing a demo of the following:

• Kenjutsu (Japanese swordsmanship)
• Iaijutsu and Tachiai Battojutsu (Japanese sword drawing techniques)
• Ryotojutsu (two swords)
• Kodachi (short sword)
• Bojutsu (long staff technique)
• Naginatajutsu (glaive art)
• Sojutsu (art of the spear)
