Marshalling involves uniting two or more coats of arms and/or crests into a single shield and crest design. This can be done to signify inheritance, the marriage of two families, the occupation of a position, or the running of a business.

There are four types of marshalling; We have Dimidiation, Impalement, Quartering and Superimposition.

Before surnames became the norm, people generally called people by their given names. As the villages grew, they needed a way to differentiate people sharing the same name. One way was to use their occupation like David the Baker, David the Blacksmith, David the Bowman. Those morphed gradually into simply David Baker, David Smith, David Bowman, and so on.

Farewell, Sir Michael Gambon

“𝑭𝒂𝒓𝒆𝒘𝒆𝒍𝒍! 𝑮𝒐𝒅 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘𝒔 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒘𝒆 𝒔𝒉𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒎𝒆𝒆𝒕 𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒊𝒏.” – 𝑯𝒂𝒎𝒍𝒆𝒕

Sir Michael Gambon, also known as “Mike” was famous for acting as Hogwarts’ Headmaster, Albus Dumbledore, but he also appeared in many productions of William Shakespeare’s works including Hamlet, Coriolanus, Othello, and Macbeth. He played as the Renaissance astronomer Galileo Galilei in The Life of Galileo, and he played many roles in period dramas such as Emma, Blood Royal: William the Conqueror, Little Women. He even gave voice to “The Prophet” from Elder Scrolls Online.

He was knighted for services to drama in 1998, becoming Sir Michael Gambon.

Farewell, and may your soul rest in peace, Sir Michael.

Artist Spotlight: HaruScribbles

𝐑𝐞𝐧 𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐏𝐇 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭! HaruScribbles

HaruScribbles is a casual fantasy digital artist with experience in events art. She has done exclusive graphic designs for Baguio’s biggest cosplay events: Cosplay Tanabata Festival 5, 6, and 7. She is now applying her love of history and fantasy elements by lending her talents to Ren Faire PH 2024.

HaruScribbles has given life to Ren Faire PH’s artistic branding – from the enchanting primary art and template for Ren Faire PH 2024, logos, cover photos, color scheme, and font pairings. Of course she has many more creations that *ehem* we are unable to divulge to the public ~yet. 😉 Follow her page to see more of her works and be updated in events she’s joining as artist or exhibitor!

pre-colonial outfit for Ren faire PH 2024. Remember to keep your outfit respectful and authentic
to the best of your knowledge and resources, and consider the practicality of your outfit for a
Renaissance faire. You’ll want to be comfortable while showcasing that traditional Philippine clothing!
